Raytheon-Belmont B10DX22 10 " Pop-Out consolette. Back in the day one of the objections of house wives was that TV sets stuck out too far from the wall. That issue was due to the length of the picture tube neck. Convention design was to place the picture tube horizontally which made the tv cabinet stick out from the wall becaue the picture tube was so long. In an attempt to shorten the front to back depth of television cabinets some manufacturers came up with clever cabinet designs to shorten the depth of the cabinets so they would not stick out from the wall so far. The design of the set is one of those attempts to shorten the depth of the cabinet. The picture tube is mounted on a tilt out front door which also serves to cover the controls when the door is closed. When you close the front door of the set, the picture tube tilts back into the cabinet in a vertical position.

This is a view of the set with the front door in the open position, with the picture tube tilted out in the operating postition. The front cabinet door also has a switch attached to it, and when you open the front door and tilt the picture tube out, the set automatically turns on. This set is quite rare and only about 3 of these are known to exist.
